We found out one week ago that you will be a big sister! We are very excited and very nervous about everything. On Friday, we had our first doctor’s appointment and they were able to do an internal ultrasound so we got to see him or her and hear their little heartbeat. They spent quite a bit of time reassuring us and letting us know we could come as often as we need to which was such a comfort to your Dad and I.
Your brother was quite disappointed that we weren’t bringing the baby home that same day — tough to explain that we have quite a ways to go yet and this baby has a lot of growing to do before they make their grand entrance!
Almost immediately after we got the positive test at home, I began to feel this extreme sense of mama bear where you are concerned. I feel fiercely protective of you. You are our second child. You are our first daughter. You made Reeves a big brother. None of this is happening for the first time and what is happening now with our family, your family, does nothing to diminish your place in it and in our hearts.
Part of the reason I am here and starting this diary of letters to you is to make certain that you are a part of this next phase of our lives. Just as you should be.
Love you very much baby girl,
